BEGINNER

Objective: To introduce foundational piano skills including posture, hand coordination, music reading, and basic technique, while developing early musical expression and confidence.

  • Getting started with the piano – understanding the instrument and how to sit and play with proper posture

  • Learning your first five-finger patterns and hand coordination

  • Reading music in both treble and bass clefs

  • Major and minor scales in C, G, and F

  • Basic chords and simple songs

  • Intro to rhythm, dynamics, and expression

  • Finger strength and control through simple exercises

  • Grades Covered: Inital, 1st, and 2nd

INTERMEDIATE

Objective: To enhance technical fluency and musical understanding by expanding scale and chord knowledge, strengthening hands-together coordination, and exploring expressive tools like pedaling and phrasing.

  • Scales and arpeggios in all major and minor keys (up to 4 sharps/flats)

  • Hands-together playing with more independence

  • Triads and inversions across the piano

  • Intro to pedaling and expressive phrasing

  • Sight-reading and basic ear training

  • Chord progressions and harmonies

ADVANCED

  • Full scale and arpeggio work in all keys

  • Advanced scales: harmonic minor, melodic minor, blues, and chromatic

  • 7th and extended chords, complex rhythms, and voicings

  • Mastering pedaling, articulation, and dynamic control

  • Stylistic interpretation across classical, jazz, and contemporary genres

  • Advanced ear training and harmonic analysis

  • Repertoire building with professional-level pieces

  • Grades Covered: 6th to 8th
